Posted December 1998

I decided to donate one of my kidneys to my sister on March, 1994. My own family was very much opposed to it, still I pushed through with my decision knowing that the only way my sister could get well was to have a kidney transplant. It was indeed a sacrifice of love, because a lot of time was spent on routine tests, check-ups and not to mention the physical pain from needles and from the surgery I went through. Five years have passed, and I am still living a normal life with no major health problems. I have my regular check-up to monitor the condition of my kidney. I thank God for giving me the grace to be the instrument of extending my sister's life. I never regretted that act of love. It was so unfortunate that she acquired tuberculosis (Class 3) which ruined the transplanted kidney last year. Thus, I am appealing in her behalf, for someone to donate his or her kidney to my sister. Thank you.
